Today has flown by and I am just now having my lunch shake and, as soon as I'm done here, my lunch. It's almost 3.
We had a late start this AM since Sam slept until 8 something. I had a yummy shake of blueberries, strawberries and banana. I also found this yummy gluten free cereal that is really good. I am not buying a lot of the gluten free replacement items but I have been needing something to fill the breakfast void. I'm trying to run each morning and have found that I need more than a fruit smoothie and more fruit to get me through it. So this cereal is doing the trick. It's rice with berries and I have it with coconut milk. Enough said.
Then today, my sister in law came to visit and I slipped out to do some much needed shopping for an hour and then visited with her for a while. Then before you know it, here we are at 3 o clock. Crazy. So, I'm gonna have some leftovers for lunch and we are planning black bean stuffed peppers for tonight.
The curry last night was only so so. I have made better. Still a great option for veggie nights though.
And, one final note, I went for a run after I put Sam down last night. I never would have done that before!

Day Four thru Eight
Where does the time go? This is why I have not ever been a successful blogger, or journalist for that matter. I just can't get to the computer for five minutes and write down my thoughts. All day long things flow through my head to blog about later but when I actually sit down there is very little content of insight to share. OK, about the detox...
It is going great and maybe a positive to take from the lack of blogging is that it hasn't been all consuming to the point that it's all I think about. It has been really easy. I have noticed that I am really tired and heavy feeling when I run and I have had a headache from time to time. But that's about it. I do miss drinking but I keep telling myself that this is nothing compared to pregnancy. A three week pregnancy if you will...no problem.
If I can dip back into my memory I'll pass on the meals I had for the end of week 1. Salmon with lentils (yum), grilled leg of lamb with Mediterranean quinoa salad, Grilled Beer Can Chicken (this was for Father's Day), turkey burgers, and coconut tilapia.
The shakes are really good. My latest favorite is coconut milk, OJ, mango, and blueberries. Dang, it was delish. And that's a good thing now that we are on to 3 shakes a day.
For lunches I have had lots of leftovers so nothing to note there. Snacks remain nut, fruit, and rice cake filled. I haven't had near the amount of hummus I thought I would. I guess with all the yummy fruits in season now, I'm not even getting to the fridge.
It's meatless week 2 now and I am really excited about this. Don and I have been having a meatless night a couple times a week at most so a whole week of meatless is a fun challenge. I think we have a pretty good line up for the week.
Today for lunch I had lentils mixed with Brown Rice Vegetable Risotto leftovers and tonight we are having a giatnt pot of vegetable curry. I am combining two recipes and it has like 10 vegetables in it. Also gonna have a beet walnut salad on the side.
One thing I have noticed on the detox is that Sam and I are eating in harmony for most meals. Having so much fresh food on hand has been great for his meals and snacks. He's having loads of fruit and fresh meats and loves rice and quinoa. He even loved the hot cereal which made me want to barf.

Day Three
So it's 9:55 and I just blew the twenty minutes I wanted to spend updating this blog catching up on Facebook. Dang, why is it such a time sucker? I didn't even delve deeper than a quick scan, yet here I am, out of time.
To sum up, it was another great day. We spent the majority of it between grandparents' houses which was lots of fun. I always pack Sam a "to go" bag of lots of food, so today I added my own foods to the stash.
I started out with a coconut milk, pineapple, blueberry, banana smoothie. Had an almond butter rice cake around 10. For lunch my mother in law made me a chicken breast with a side of peas and baked pineapple. Then we had a snack of mini rice cakes and grapes. For dinner we had a grilled chicken drumsticks and a garden salad. Dinner was a little weak in my opinion but we were rushed and tired.
I also spent some time today planning out the menu for the next several days and it looks good. Tomorrow, it's grilled leg of lamb. Now, off to bed for my 10:00 bedtime.

Day Two cont.
Day 2 is over and it was a great day. I don't feel deprived at all and feel like my energy level is better and that darn headache has left me alone. Thank goodness. Today I had some leftover grilled chicken with fruit for lunch, then a rice cake with almond butter for a snack. Tonight we grilled tilapia and had new potatoes and broccoli with it. I snacked on nuts in the car throughout the day. I found coconut milk at the store which really made my day, not because I miss milk so much but because I LOVE coconut. Delicious. Day two of not drinking has also been easy, we'll see how that goes come the weekend.
Day Two
Today my shake was much better. I used frozen berries (a mix of raspberries, blueberries, and blackberries), pineapple, and banana. I blended it for longer like Meleah suggested which really made it creamier. Yum.
Then after getting the baby boy down for his nap, I went for a run after taking the weekend off. My shin splints are way better after the adjustment and the rest. I came home to do my ab workout video and showered and updated the blog and now I am told, he is awake. This is a perfect example of why it's hard to choose fitness over chores...there isn't time to do both and now I'm off to play with the baby.

Reflections on Day One
It was a good day. I picked at a lot of the "allowed" foods so maybe I can hone that into meals in the coming weeks but I really liked what I was eating. I finished off the day with a dinner of grilled chicken with a citrus marinade, grilled summer squash, and wild rice. I was going to have strawberries for dessert but I fell asleep in front of the TV at 8:30 and slept there for an hour, then I levitated upstairs and slept until the baby boy woke me up at 7:30. I was exhausted.
The headache continued through the day but when Don got home from work he suggested a walk so that was nice and kept me distracted.
All in all, a good day and I went to bed feeling like I had been kind to my body.

Day One cont.
It's 3pm now, Sam is "down". Not sleeping, just protesting so I don't have long. Wanted to touch on how the rest of the day has gone. I have felt sooooo tired and have had a bit of a headache. Both I attribute to the sudden loss of my caffeinated friend Joe this morning. I miss him but I know we had an unhealthy relationship. When I dumped him during the pregnancy I really thought all my tiredness and head throbbing was the human growing inside me but now I have no other excuse...it's the coffee. Or lack there of.
So, I dragged myself to the store and picked up the most lovely fresh cart of food you have ever seen. Veggies, fruits, OJ, fresh meats, beans, etc. It makes me excited for the next snack, that's for sure.
For the rest of the day I had some sushi from Harris Teeter, a little chicken with Sam at lunch, bites of avocado and banana. Mostly picking today so far. As the days go on I think I'll be more prepared with real meals.
